2018 has been an amazing year for my quilting adventures. I turned my hobby into a business, Patchwork & Poodles, started this blog, and released my first pattern. I want to thank all of you for following along, cheering me on, and sharing my work with your friends.
Today is also my golden birthday! That’s right, I’m thirty years old today. I’ve been saying for months that thirty is going to be a good year, so I’m going into it with high spirits. I used to hate the fact that my birthday was sandwiched between Christmas and New Years, and it never seemed to be at a convenient time for anyone. But earlier this year, while reflecting, I realized that in a way I’m very lucky, since my birthday falls right before the new year. Having a birthday at the same time as the Earth seems like a great time to turn a year older, make goals, and gear up for the new year.
I started quilting in July 2016, and I’ve been keeping a notebook of all of my makes. Now with the inception of my blog, it seems fitting that I do a recap on this virtual platform as well. I want you to know this isn’t a competition or about who made more stuff this year. Quilting is a hobby, a passion, and I’m very lucky to have the time to do a lot of it. So please, if you didn’t make as much stuff this year, don’t feel like you didn’t measure up. It isn’t about how much you make, it is about how much love you pour into your makes.
I consider a “finished” quilt one that is completely quilted and bound. Because of this, I have quite a few “in progress” quilts that will be considered finished quilts in next year’s round-up. All quilts shown below were finished this year, even though they may have been started in 2017. And on that note, let’s get started! This year I finished …
1 mini quilt:

2 wall hangings:

8 tote bags (for pattern information check out my blog post):
4 candy corn buntings (no pattern):

6 quilted pillows:
Clockwise from top left, neutral patchwork pillow (pattern modified from the Pumpkin Seeds Quilt pattern by The Pattern Basket), Ring of Coffins pattern by Art School Dropout, improv pillow (no pattern), Cross-stitch Santa (Bucilla kit), Prairie Points Tree pattern by Sterling Sews, and a second improv pillow (no pattern)
1 Christmas Stocking, pattern by @katylivings found in a magazine:

1 baby quilt, Modern Crossing Quilt pattern by me!:
