When Art Gallery Fabrics contacted me about collaborating on an upcoming look book for their new solids, I said yes as fast as I could! Art Gallery Fabrics Pure Solids are super fun to work with and their 20 new colors were just too pretty to resist!

I chose to make a baby-sized Zesty quilt using 8 of their new colors: Crystalline, Maldives, Heart of the Ocean, Gentle Feather, Vanilla Custard, Raw Gold, Candied Cherry, and Miami Sunset. (Psst! Raw Gold is my new favorite color!)

I used White Linen for the background to give it a soft, creamy look, and bound it in Candied Cherry.

I was supposed to use Blossomed for the backing, but when I was pressing it prior to basting, my iron spit rusty water all over a 12″ section! Luckily, I had scraps leftover from the front and turned them into a fun, scrappy backing using Blossomed, Heart of the Ocean, and Gentle Feather. Still, piecing together a baby sized backing definitely made me grumble.

I was pleased to see that Art Gallery Fabrics has started printing the name of their solids in the selvage. This is so HUGE since I often forget to label them and find myself staring at two navy fabrics at 8pm wondering if they’re the same or not.

I quilted this one with a simple 1.5″ grid quilting and machine bound it.

Be sure to check out the look book to see all the other talented makes, or check out the Zesty pattern in my shop!
