The moment I saw this fabric line, I knew it needed to become an Inkling quilt STAT! Isn’t it lovely? It is Posy fabric by Annabel Wrigley for Windham Fabrics and it releases this November. I was lucky enough to get my hot little hands on an advance bundle in time to create this Inkling quilt for the release.

I chose my 16 favorite prints from the Posy fabric collection to make the large throw size of Inkling (64″ x 64″). I used an off-white solid fabric for the background to really allow the prints to shine. When it came to creating a backing for this quilt, I chose to dig through the stash, using solid scraps to create a fun, bright and interesting back.

A vintage-inspired quilt needs to be hand-quilted, right? Right. I used Aurifil 12 weight in #4026 for the quilting. I loved this dark green, it coordinated well with the prints in the collection, and it added such a great pop of interest. Without it, the white space was looking a little too white. I’m so pleased that you can really see all of the quilting! I chose to only quilt the background fabric. I considered quilting in the prints too, but I tried it for a block and didn’t love it, so I ripped it out. Sometimes, simpler is better!

You can find Inkling in paper and pdf version in the shop, and it looks amazing in prints and solids alike! I love that Inkling can look vintage, modern, bright, muted, and everything in-between simply by the fabrics you use! I have yet to see an Inkling quilt I didn’t like.
